Golden Porridge

This breakfast takes a bit longer to make, so I usually have it as a "treat" on the weekend. It is full of nutritious whole grain oats, and is naturally sweetened by the sultanas. You can top it with whatever fruit you like. My favourite is sliced banana and some walnut pieces.

Porridge
 ½ cup whole grain oats (or steel cut oats)
 ½ cup plant based milk (I like to use Oat milk)
 1 cup boiling water
 ¼ tsp turmeric powder
 ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
 1 handful sultanas
Toppings - these can be whatever you want
 2 tbsp ground flaxseed
 1 tbsp walnut pieces
 1 banana - sliced

Add the Porridge ingredients to a saucepan. Bring to the boil, then turn the temperature down and simmer until the oats have softened, and the porridge has thickened. You want it to still be moist, not thick and claggy.

Take the porridge off the heat, and mix in the ground flaxseed. Serve immediately with the toppings of your choice. The banana/walnut combination is my favourite.
